While all eyes were on the Carnegie Premiership teams joining the Coca Cola cup competition at round three there were still some important league games to be played.
In the Coca Cola Championship it was business as usual for the YMCA ladies with a 9-0 thrashing of an out of sorts Coleraine.
The Bannsiders were sent away with their tails firmly between their legs after doubles from Laura Nicolas, Ciara O’Kane, Ursina Carpeder and further strikes from Aine McKeever Kendra McMullan and the divisions’ top scorer Avila Bergin.
Alison Nicholls side will really have to pick themselves up for their cup clash with Coca Cola cup holder Glentoran Belfast United.
With the league title looking beyond them the Glens will certainly not want to relinquish their grip on the cup as well.
Fresh from their mauling of Coleraine the YMCA faced a tricky Coca Cola cup tie at Loughgall.
In a real nail biter YMCA squeaked past the Armagh side on penalties, after a 2-2 draw, to set up a quarter final clash against Newbridge Predators on the 20th July.
Donegal Celtic continue to push for second place finish after a home win over Fermanagh Mallards that keeps them on the shoulder of Cliftonville Ladies.
Tasmin Strain scored twice in a 2-1 Celtic win with Charlene Bell netting for the Mallards.
Cliftonville continue to occupy the runners up spot after a comfortable win over Larne.
Marissa Callaghan and Louise Irvine netted much to the delight of manager Emma Kelly.
In the Coca Cola Irish cup Cliftonville were unlucky to draw Premiership team Newbridge Predators.
The Predators extra experience and class was enough to give them a 4-2 win over the Reds.
However, the Coca Cola Championship team gave a good account of themselves, scoring twice and making some excellent chances that on another day could have ended up in the net.
